Earth Child Project x Lesley-Ann Brandt
Ever since I had a knee issue as a teenager, exercise has never been something I’ve been excited about or done consistently. Doctors have told me I needed to start some sort of gentle exercise routine to ensure I don’t get osteoporosis… eeeek! However, for some reason every time I started a program, I always found something else to distract me.
Then I got an email from my friend, Lesley-Ann Brandt, inviting me to join her on a yoga challenge to raise money for Earth Child Project. 21 days of yoga… woah! I hadn’t done yoga for over a year, and now 21 days?!
It was the kick I needed though, because I love the mission Earth Child Project has. They are based in South Africa and teach children to connect to themselves and each other through yoga and life-skills, nurture a love and respect for nature through worm farming, gardening and eco clubs, and are inspiring a new generation of young leaders through their holiday programs and hiking clubs. It is really inspiring seeing the difference they are making in the lives of children who are living in neighborhoods surrounded by gun violence and drug abuse.
So I committed to the 21 days… for the children.
Along the way, I’ve discovered a deep appreciation for the practice of yoga and looking after my body.
My puppy Hurley even joined in, and I documented every day in my Instastories! See below for some cute pics of Hurley!
People joined in from all around the world, and we raised over $30K to build a yoga studio so Earth Child Project can support more children.
